Racing to find a cure!

Welcome to SlogRock...

First and Foremost - I am here to fundraise for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society...this website is an attempt to share my experience along the way!!
What is SlogRock?
Slog = Slow Jog
Rock = I don't run.  I don't walk.  I ROCK!!
What this means is that I have accepted that I am not a runner.  At my best (and about 20+ lbs lighter...oh, ok..40!) I could average a 12-13 min mile.  These days, I normally pace a 15-16 min mile.  Does this make me less of an "athlete" - NO!!  Does this diminish the marathon and 1/2 marathon experience ?  Absolutely NOT!
I pound the pavement and do the distance with hundreds and thousands of other "slogrockers"...We take the time to "rock and smell the asphalt" along the way!
Welcome to Tai's Slog Rock Journey...and I am happy to say I will be on my way to Anchorage, Alaska on June 17, 2006....followed by San Francisco Nike Women's Marathon in October.
If you didn't get a chance to donate to this particular training season - there is still time!!  The need is constant - to raise funds to find a cure!!

To cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease and myeloma, and to improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

I have made the personal committment to fundraise $3500 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  75% of what I raise will go directly to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society while  25% will go towards my training and marathon event.
Over the next 4 1/2 months, I will be training for two events...San Diego Rock & Roll Marthon on June 4th and Mayor's Midnight Sun 1/2 Marathon on June 17th.
This means TWENTY SIX POINT TWO miles on June 4th...and then two weeks later THIRTEEN POINT ONE miles on June 17th!!!
Why?  Because I can.  I am fortunate enough to be in good health and have the ability to do such things...I am doing this for anyone and everyone who can't because they are too sick to get out of bed...I am doing this with the hopes that I might be able to help make a difference in the fight against cancer!

Thank you for your support!!
